Job Description

Affinius Capital is seeking a Head of Data to focus on the overall culture, accountability, discipline, and technology associated with managing data at the firm. This role will be responsible for a governance program that will create and stabilize data analytics capabilities covering properties, investments, funds, and investors.

 

The Head of Data will partner with internal stakeholders, such as investment teams, portfolio managers, asset managers, and finance professionals. In addition, they will work with external stakeholders, such as operating and development partners, property managers, and real estate service providers. The incumbent will also be able to leverage and collaborate with the existing Affinius technology team.

Additionally, the role will involve liaising with Affinius’s management team to ensure the overall data strategy aligns with and incorporates the firm’s business strategy and initiatives. This is a senior level role that is capable of planning, resourcing, and executing to meet the goals of the business. It requires an in-depth understanding of the real assets investment management business, data solutions and technology management.


Essential Duties

  • Oversee Affinius Capital’s data program, managing teams responsible for Strategy & Delivery, Governance, Systems & Solutions, and Reporting & Analytics.
  • Define, manage and advance enterprise information management principles, policies and programs for stewardship, advocacy and custodianship of data and analytics.
  • Expand Affinius’s analytic offerings to generate insights across its real estate portfolio, and foster data-driven culture and data literacy across the organization.
  • Drive change management and migration efforts needed to adapt to new processes or technology to ensure that the solutions are being used appropriately across the enterprise.
  • Chair data council to provide executive sponsorship and oversight of governance policy creation and lead a governance structure that ensures policies are being applied appropriately across the enterprise.
  • Identify new types and sources of data to enable business innovation and cross-asset class insights while also supporting new data and reporting requests and audits.
  • Stay up to date with the latest technology trends to promote and manage initiatives to position Affinius with creative, market-leading tools for the use of data by our employees and clients.
  • Perform other essential duties, as assigned.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of the real estate investment management industry, and related terms and software/systems.
  • 10+ years experience with defining and establishing an enterprise data management strategy, preferably for a real estate management organization.
  • Experience with defining and implementing data governance policies and procedures.
  • Confidence in managing and influencing internal and external stakeholders, including senior management, business unit leaders, operating partners, and property managers.
  • Experience driving a transformation agenda, with a strong change and program management background.
  • Experience with creating and implementing global data solutions.
  • Strong commercial skillset and experience in business analysis and change ROI.
  • Good balance between entrepreneurial creativity and tenacity.
  • Experience with either fund marketing or investor communication preferred.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills with strong ability to synthesize business requirements into actionable plans.
  • Effective interpersonal skills, ability to earn the trust of the team and business partners, develop strong and sustained relationships.
  • Must be willing to work on-site full time.
